To a new project. 1/2 marathon action

So I have finally started this blog thing. I have read many a blog and thought I really would like to do this too. My real inspiration came about a year ago after seeing Julie and Julia. I thought Julie was so clever and talented. I wanted to do some project like her and blog about it. Well I am not doing a huge project like Julie but smaller adventures. and during each one I am going to blog about it. As well as blog about family, life and whatever else is on my mind. So if you want to follow along read further.

So after my brother Michael died my side of the family has been dealing with an incredible amount of grief. To help me work through it I began exercising regularly. I began running because lets be honest you get skinner faster. While running I think a lot or I would go crazy. While thinking and running I thought about trying to run in Michael's memory. So the pipe dream began. My sister, Cheryl her main squeeze Eric, my amazing husband Jay and I are now training for a 1/2 marathon, which is Nov. 25th. That's right Thanksgiving Day. So we officially started in the beginning of August but I can give you a quick recap.

I run 3-4 times a week with 1 long run on the weekend.  My goal is to clock 15 miles during the week and then add a mile to each run on the weekends. So far I have only been able to fulfill my 15 mile week 2times and we are only up to 6miles. We have encountered some unforeseen obstacles. The weather being numero uno. The weather has conspired against us this summer. 90-100 degree weather makes impossible running conditions outside. 2 young children have sometimes put a monkey wrench in the plan whether sick, hungry, tired, or potty training us parents have to clearly put their needs first before a run. So in order to make this all happen each day during the week both my children need to be healthy, fed and ready to go to the YMCA so I can train during the week. Plus Sam needs to use the potty because the real deal toilet in child watch is scary to him, which is a whole other adventure known as potty training.  Then on the weekends we need a cool morning, both children fed, 1 has to use the potty both #1 and #2 and we as parents need to get up on time so we can eat, get dressed and out the door before it gets too hot. All this to say that we just have to be better about planning.
So I am writing out our new plan:
I will figure out the week depending on children and the weekends we will run by 7am either Saturday or Sunday depending on the weather. If the weather is bad we will beg my parents or friends to watch the kids while we run at the YMCA on the blasted treadmill. So tomorrow is supposed to be okay weather wise and Sam is pretty much over his cough/runny nose cold, so we will do our best to get our butts out of bed and run 6 or 6.5 miles. I will let you know how it goes.
Thanks for reading!
